HAVRE CHRISTIAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HANDBOOK

V. CONDUCT GUIDELINES

In providing a Christian education our school is concerned with many aspects of Christian living, including personal devotions, health and diet, dress, recreation, entertainment and social relationships. Those who maintain high standards in these areas will support the school in its goal of providing quality Christian Education.

A. DRESS:

Within the school family there will be different views on appropriate school dress. The following statement gives some guidance for selecting appropriate clothing: “In dress as in all things it is our privilege to honor our Creator. He desires our clothing to be not only neat and healthful, but also appropriate and becoming.” Education, page 248

The following recommendations are given to guide parents and students in planning school attire:

  1. Neatness should be noticeable in both dress and grooming.
  2. School policy would discourage jewelry and use of makeup.
  3. Students should not wear shirts with inappropriate pictures or words, tank tops, or "grubby" jeans.
  4. Appropriate footwear is required.

The appropriateness of all dress and grooming is left to the discretion of the faculty and school board.

B. BEHAVIOR:

Because the school wishes to promote a positive Christian learning climate for all students, those who use tobacco, liquor, inappropriate drugs; those whose language and conduct are out of harmony with the ideals of the school; those who tamper with or willfully destroy school property will jeopardize their privilege of attending this school.

C. DIET AND REST:

To help the students use God-given potential most efficiently, the school strongly encourages the parents/guardians to provide adequate rest and healthful diet for their student.
